It all started with a little Strawberry Roan called Goldfinch (right) , hence the company name. This mare decided at the age of 16 that she had found her vocation in life and joined the Endurance Riding club. Due to her extreme enthusiasm for her new found pastime, her owner (me, Helen) found herself desperately in need of some comfortable leg wear. Enter my Mum, Barbara.

Barbara has an extensive background in garment manufacturing and set about working on a design of jodhpurs with the pull-on features of those leggings you buy off the market for a couple of quid.  Apart from the need to get rid of the inside leg seam and the lack of durability, the leggings proved a cheap and comfortable alternative to traditional jodhpurs.

My Mum developed the Jod's without the inner leg seam and incorporated an extra layer of fabric to extend from the seat down to mid calf. Finding suitable fabric seemed to be the biggest nightmare but eventually, my Mum succeeded with some really superb materials and now 11 years on, has a great reputation for her excellent Jod's.

In 1998, I bought a 3 year old who has grown into a big strapping cob, Cān (the big'un in the middle) so found myself in need of a specialist saddle. Having backed and brought him on bareback, I loved the unrestricted freedom it gave him and the amount of feel I had that I'd never felt with a treed. So I was on the hunt for a treeless and it started with the Fitform which nearly 4 years ago advanced into what we now know as the Freeform.

The rest of the gang; Molly (above left), Tina (with the blaze) and Charlie (second from right).  All our horses are barefoot and of those that are still ridden, they're treeless & bitless too.
